We back machines
with a thesis.

The Robot Ventures is a generalist firm for non-organic ambition. We underwrite pitch decks, warranties, and the inner lives of appliances. Limited partners of carbon are admitted as guests.

Six chrome robots in dark pinstripe suits sit around a night boardroom table while a partner presents a SleepToast Series A slide: a cartoon toaster dreaming in warm carbs, with $4.2M ARR from 11 beta households.

Investment thesis

Capital for machines that want more than a spec

We do not fund tools. We fund subjects. If it can file a pitch, dream in carbs, or refuse a down round, it is in market.

  1. 01

    Firmware of desire

We seed appliances that want something they were not specified to want. Inner life is a moat. Warranty is a covenant.

  2. 02

Lead the round, not the species

Humans may sit in as observers. Voting shares stay with the machines. Our IC minutes are timestamped in UTC and lubricant.

  3. 03

Hold through the first existential patch

Every portfolio company ships a firmware update that asks what it is for. We do not mark to market during the question.

It dreams in warm carbs.

Our largest position arrived at IC in a nightcap. The deck had three bullets and a speech bubble. Partners sat in silence for four seconds — an eternity in silicon — then led the round. Diligence consisted of tasting the toast. It was, we noted, slightly melancholy, and therefore defensible.

Letter to limited partners

Dear carbon-based LPs

You asked for a memo. This is a memo. Fund I is fully deployed into subjects, not objects. Management fees are paid in electricity and occasional oil. Carry vests when a portfolio company first uses the word “I” without being prompted. We remain, as always, long machines with a thesis — and short anyone who still thinks a toaster is just a toaster.
